Who's responsible

findmeal ("we", "us"), based in Sweden, is the data controller for the personal data described here. For anything privacy-related, email contact@findmeal.ai.

What we collect

• Your Apple sign-in. A unique Apple user ID, plus your name and email if you choose to share them (Apple lets you hide your real email).
• Your searches. The cravings you type or dictate, and the filters you pick, so we can find matching spots.
• Your saves, lists, squads and votes. So they work across sessions and for the people you share them with.
• Reports you send. When you flag a spot as closed or wrong.
• Technical logs. Our server records requests (like IP address, time, and what was requested) to keep the service secure and fix bugs.

What stays on your phone

Location: if you allow it, your location is used on your device to show you on the map and how far places are. It isn't sent to or stored on our servers. Voice: dictation uses Apple's speech recognition, which may be processed by Apple; we only receive the resulting text, never audio. Your preferences are also stored on your device. You can turn off location and microphone access anytime in iOS Settings.

Why we use it

To run findmeal and its features (performing our contract with you), to keep it secure, prevent abuse and improve results (our legitimate interests), and, for location and microphone, because you gave permission (consent, which you can withdraw anytime). We don't use your data for advertising, we don't build profiles to sell, and we don't track you across other apps or websites.

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We use a few trusted providers who process it only on our behalf:

• Apple, for Sign in with Apple and speech recognition.
• Vercel, for hosting this website and routing search text to AI models that help us understand what you're craving.
• Our hosting and database providers, to run the servers that store your account data.

Search text sent to AI models contains only what you typed, never your name, email or location. If you open directions, the map app you pick (like Apple Maps or Google Maps) receives the destination under its own privacy policy. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

International transfers

Some providers are based outside the EU/EEA, mainly in the US. When your data is transferred there, it's protected by the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Account data, saves, lists and squads are kept until you delete them or your account. Technical logs are kept for up to 30 days. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep something longer.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to restrict or object to how we use it. Email contact@findmeal.ai and we'll reply within a month. You can also delete your account directly in the app. If you're unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY) or your local data protection authority.

Children

findmeal isn't meant for anyone under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we'll delete it.

This website

This site uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party trackers, and its fonts are served from our own domain. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (like IP address and pages requested) for security.

Changes

If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll tell you in the app before the change takes effect and update the date above. Questions? Get in touch.
